Apostle Islands Boat Tour
Karyl, Macy, Doug and I went on the Apostle Islands Boat Tour. It begins and ends in Bayfield on Lake Superior. It is designated as a National Seashore and is administered by the National Park Service. The tour winds it way through most of the islands with beautiful scenery and numerous light houses. It was cool and sometimes foggy, but the rain held off and we had a great time.
Bayfield with a car ferry going to Madeline Island, the largest of the Apostles. |
Rock formations everywhere on the islands, in the winter, in years the ice is sage, this has become a popular tourist attraction, as many can be reached from Bayfield by foot. |
Our captain did a great job of narrating. |
A fish camp...now abandoned |
This was at the northern most island...and the northern most point in Wisconsin. 80 miles to the north is Canada. The only foggy part of the trip. |
Lighthouse...no longer manned. |
This lighthouse is being restored and tours will be held. |
Approaching Bayfield and the end of our trip. |
Spring Time
Just a few shots of some spring activities.
We got 50 bare root shrubs from Iron County, it will take a few years before we can take a head count of what survived. |
Square footing it |
Baily needed a haircut and it was a warm day. He found the perfect solution. |
First boat ride of the season |
Still thinks he's a lap dog. |
Waiting for Macy to return from shopping. |
Cemetery Burial
We buried half of my Mom's ashes in the cemetery plot near Chicago my Grandfather purchased many years ago. Jane, John, Craig, Erica, Macy, Heather, and myself shared a few memories and left her to rest in peace with my dad and her parents.
