Invisible Fence

On Saturday we had an invisible fence installed around most of the property.  It was quite a project and involved a trencher, chain saw, kayak, and lots of wire.  It was very tough work for the installers. Baily is now in training and is doing well.  Soon he'll have free reign to roam around in the outdoors he so very much loves, and we won't have to worry about where he's off to in pursuit of squirrels and other critters.

This specialized machine cuts through obstacles, digs a trench, buries the wire, and covers it.  It even cuts through rock.

The wire was placed across the lagoon so that Baily can cross the bridge without a collar warning.  The wire must be placed in a continuous loop, it starts and ends in the far garage.

It goes out and around the pier and lift.  He shouldn't get a warning when we head out on the boat.

Who Be The King

Baily and I have been playing musical chairs lately for the prime viewing, reading, drinking seat on the couch.  Once one of us vacates the spot the other one is on it.

On this occasion it doesn't look good for me, Baily definitely looks like he's settled down for the long haul.

Spring Sprung

Easter weekend there was still ice fishermen out in the bay; yesterday the lake opened up, and we immediately had loons.  Let Spring begin!

The last step of the break up process is the "black ice".  It's a very thin remaining layer of ice containing the accumulated dirt and crud from 10 feet of snow and 2 feet of ice this winter.  Yesterday a wind out of the east was breaking off sections of the black ice from the main body of the lake and blowing them across the bay.  This shot and the next two show the movement of the ice in just 15 minutes or so.

The early garden is in.
