Occupancy

Well, we're no longer on the outside looking in, we can officially occupy.  The "inspector" showed up first thing Friday morning, tested the smoke detector, and said we were good to go.  I didn't ask him how much he charged for the inspeciton.  The carpeting guys finished up by lunch, and later that afternoon the propane was reconnected.  The furnace and hot water heater fired up right away so we were good to go.  While this all was going on two disinterested souls delivered the new dryer so we can do laundry as well.

The refrigerator is filling up fast and we were able to find the cottage barware in the black holes that are the garages.  Ice maker works so at least I was all set.

The bedroom was a bit Spartan but air mattresses have come a long way.

The lower level, which I suspect will be a staging area short term.

We haven't pulled up the paper protection on the wood floors and an extra piece of carpet padding made a great rug under the dining area table.

A shot of the loft bedroom and some other lofty views.

Update Sept. 18, 2011

Getting closer, there's a good chance we will get the occupancy permit this week.  Carpet is scheduled to be installed on Friday.

This last week they put in the lower level suspended ceiling.  Lights aren't installed yet.

Fireplace stone work is complete.

Microwave, which includes the exhaust fan, is installed.  More controls to master.  As long as I can set one minute on high I'm ok.

Shower doors installed.

And the air conditioner installed.  Based on this weekend it may be awhile before we test it out.

Update September 11, 2011

Things move forward...

The pump is connected and we have water.  Guess what got lots of use this weekend?

The chimney got capped.

Wash tub got cut into the cabinet.

Range got installed.  Macy reread the owners manual and started making all the electronic settings.  Got hung up on "Day of the Week".  Better luck next weekend?

Fireplace is getting stoned.  Another one of those puzzles like the wood ceiling.

Gutters and downspouts installed.  Had a leaf guard system installed to keep debris out.  I'm a wimp when it comes to extension ladders and cleaning out gutters three stories up.  The barrier at the corner is a splash guard, lots of water comes down that spot.

Reefer Madness

Appliances have definitely evolved; from the electronic controls to the shelving design, they are quite amazing, especially in the case of refrigerators.  Here's a few shots of our new one.  Still has plastic wrap on it to protect the finish.

Guess I better read the user's manual.  The Lockout button scares me...I need my ice!

As clean as we will ever see it.

Update - Labor Day Weekend

We're on the stretch drive.  Still hoping to have the Occupancy Permit by 9/15.

The appliances were delivered on Saturday...Macy is already busy reading the operating instructions.

The kitchen counter tops are installed.

Paddle fans going up.

Bathrooms waiting for mirrors...and the toilets!

Pocket doors "pocketed".

Well installed.

Fireplace is ready for the stone.

And the outdoor light fixtures now set the evening mood.
