Easter weekend there was still ice fishermen out in the bay; yesterday the lake opened up, and we immediately had loons. Let Spring begin!

The last step of the break up process is the "black ice". It's a very thin remaining layer of ice containing the accumulated dirt and crud from 10 feet of snow and 2 feet of ice this winter. Yesterday a wind out of the east was breaking off sections of the black ice from the main body of the lake and blowing them across the bay. This shot and the next two show the movement of the ice in just 15 minutes or so. |

The early garden is in. |
Yeah, spring has sprung - we have started to plant the garden - Doug planted some early stuff - I went to two nurseries today, and bought stuff for the garden and the pots! Lots to do before we visit you in Wisconsin! So glad spring is here! Although, it was 95 today - so it seems like we are leaping into summer! Can't wait to see you!
