Evening Beach Walk

Heavy winds for this evening's walk.  The first two shots are taken from the same spot showing two different faces of the beach.

Bird walk this morning in the state park, St. Joe Peninsula.  The top rated state park in Florida.

Shame on me...dark spot in the middle is a Great Horned Owl...trust me.

Also in the state park...Scallop Cove, although should have been called Pelican Harbor.  Sailboat on the horizon...life is good!

Dogging It

Saturday morning means Apalachicola dog park...

Last year, more times than not, there were no other dogs at the park.  Lots of dogs for our first visit this year.

The area is huge, but the dogs always play right where the people are.

Baily was one tired pup at this point.

We headed home via Port St. Joe where they were holding the twice a month farmers market.  Baily was a center of attention as every one wanted to meet and pet the "beautiful dog".

Pick your own fresh fish...right out of the box!  The spiced apples and FL orange juice were in a different box.

Port St. Joe

Dropped Macy off at "The Pig" and Baily and I went for a stroll along the bay.

The Cape San Blas lighthouse was decommisioned several years ago.  Last summer the lighthouse and keeper's homes were moved 15 miles or so to Port St. Joe.  It's now being readied as a tourist attraction.  For $5 you can climb the circular stairway to the top.

The tide was low and I'm assuming this boat is "anchored/beached" and not aground.

Sunset Moonrise

The sun set and the almost full moon rose at about same time last night.  Mid 70's, perfect for our walk.

Our evening walk began at Salinas Park on the bay side.

Now we're on the gulf side looking west toward the cape point.

A few horseback riders also enjoying the rapid rise of the moon to the east.

On The Road

Pics from along the way on the 1400 mile journey from Lac du Flambeau to Cape San Blas.

The trip started out with a quick visit with Delaney, Beckett, and their parents.  Hide and seek was the order of the day.  Baily is a tough competitor.

Next stop was Paducah, Kentucky.  A river town (the Ohio), it dates way back and is a fascinating city.  We need to return for further exploration.

Baily and I explored the historic down town while Macy explored...

The National Quilt Museum, the reason we stopped in Paducah.  At any time about 70 quilts are on display from their collection of over 500.  Macy described them of works of art.  "Into the Wild" was the current exhibit, quilts with nature themes.

On to Alabama, we drove the length of the state, this is the first rest area when we crossed in from Tennessee, near Huntsville, AL.

"Sweet Home Alabama" knows how to defend it's borders!

Finally at the Cape...all we need to do is unpack...groan! (it was 65 when we arrived)
